One of the main principles the multilateral trading system (WTO) is founded on, is transparency. Belize, as a member of the WTO, is required to notify to other members its trade-related policies, laws and measures. Providing this information allows governments, and traders, in particular, to be aware of the current conditions of trade around the world.
Currently, the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) serves as the WTO/TBT Enquiry Point in Belize and is participating in this three-day (December 5-7, 2018) workshop to enhance its capacity in the preparation of Belize’s WTO notifications. This session is being led by a representative of the WTO and a consultant of the WTO with participation from the Directorate General for Foreign Trade, Central Bank, BAHA, the Attorney General’s Ministry, BELIPO, the Customs & Excise Department and the Ministry of Agriculture.
