BBS as the NAFP:
The Belize Bureau of Standards is the National Accreditation Focal Point (NAFP) for Belize. A NAFP is characterized by its core function which is: To facilitate an internationally recognized accreditation for laboratories, certification and inspection bodies. To fulfil this function, NAFPs act as national administrative link between potential clients and established accreditation bodies and are usually responsible for the administration, coordination and marketing of accreditation services. However, their type, scope of activities and technical expertise may vary significantly, ranging from a formal, administrative contact point up to an independent NAFP-office with substantial technical in-house expertise.
The Bureau is a Level One NAFP. This means the Bureau is the formal accreditation focal point that provides only administrative support to the accreditation process. The responsibility of the Bureau at this level is to receive accreditation requests, provide information material, inform the Partner Accreditation Body, and participate in the ceremony by handing over the certificate.
