The Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) Standards and Compliance Unit participated in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance Energy Fair today, Thursday, 16th November 2023 at the Roaring River Golf Course in the Village of Roaring Creek.
The BBS displayed its roadmap towards the implementation of a National Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme for Belize for refrigerators, air conditioners, and light bulbs using the CARICOM Energy Efficiency Labels.
Energy-efficient appliances typically consume less energy, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and decreases the overall environmental impact associated with energy production and consumption. By choosing products with higher efficiency ratings, consumers contribute to environmental conservation efforts.
This scheme is expected to commence by April 2024 on refrigerators and air conditioners.
