Quality Management System
In 2014, the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) initiated the process of implementing its Quality Management System (QMS) guided by the ISO 9001:2008 standard to further provide quality service to its clients. The introduction of its QMS has supported the Bureau’s management system to focus on the achievements of results in relation to the quality objectives, to satisfy the needs, expectations and requirements of interested parties, as appropriate. The ISO 9001 standard specifies requirements for a QMS when an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
The BBS is now a certified ISO 9001:2008 organization as of January 2016. In 2017 it transitioned to the 2015 version of the standard and is presently pursuing re-certification with the ISO 9001:2015 in the latter part of 2018.
