In commemoration of World Standards Day, today 14th October 2026, celebrated under the theme “Clean and Affordable Energy”, the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS) with a focus on “Energy Efficiency” collaborated with Escuela Secundaria Técnica México and engaged with an educational awareness session with their technical students about Belize’s Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme (EELS).

The session aimed to increase the students’ awareness of energy efficiency, the importance of energy-saving practices, and how energy efficiency labels can help consumers make informed decisions when purchasing electrical appliances. By understanding these labels, consumers can identify appliances that use energy more efficiently, helping to reduce electricity consumption, lower energy costs, and promote more sustainable practices.

The Bureau extends its sincere appreciation to Escuela Secundaria Técnica México for the usual cooperation and providing an opportunity to educate and empower students on the importance of energy efficiency and standards in everyday life.

Together, let us promote energy awareness and build a more energy-efficient future for Belize!
