The Belize Bureau of Standards greeted visitors eager to learn more about the BBS at our booth display for World Food Day 2024 today in Central Farm where we displayed just a small view of the work we do. The Belize Bureau of Standards plays in an important role in the SYSTEM – Standards, Metrology, Accreditation, Testing and Conformity Assessment – that ensures the “Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future Leave No One Behind”.
Through the execution of the Standards and Metrology Acts (Chapters 294 and 295), the BBS consistently ensures that fuel pumps, scales, pre-packaged foods, flow meters etc are measuring correctly. The BBS is also developing capacity in Industrial Metrology to perform calibration for mass, volume, temperature, etc. In addition, we work closely with private and public stakeholders to develop standards in various sectors such as food, agriculture, tourism etc. that are in the best interest of Belize.
