The Government of Canada and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the Unite Nations, Sub-Regional Office for the Caribbean signed an agreement to implement a project titled: Gender-responsive Climate-smart Agriculture and Food Systems in the Caribbean (GCAF) Carribean Project. The project aims at empowering women and youth through training in business modeling, financial planning and climate-smart technologies; thereby, strengthening market linkages for producers, ensuring equitable access to financing and improved market presence. Finally addressing gender constraints and promoting inclusivity in all value chain activities. Countries involved: Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname. Mr. Salim Hoy, Standards Officer, participated at this event highlighting all the work that has been done over this past year in determining the quality issues that affect Agricultural producers. Also highlighted were: the standards development process; the role standards play in making available any product, good or service on the domestic market as well as global trade and National Quality Policy.
