SUMMARY:National MSME Roadshow 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Annual National MSME Roadshow\, organized by BELTRAIDE in collaboration with key regulatory partners\, concluded its nationwide tour. Running across 10 locations from June 25 to August 29\, the initiative proved to be a major success for participating institutions\, including the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS). \nBy bringing regulatory expertise directly to local entrepreneurs through the Roadshow’s Formalization Clinics sessions\, the BBS aims to bridge the gap between national quality standards and local micro\, small\, and medium entrepreneurs (MSME)\, aiming to raise public awareness regarding the key responsibilities and services offered by the Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS). \nKey Pillars of BBS Impact at the 2026 Roadshow \n\nExplaining Standards & Compliance: Entrepreneurs frequently struggle to navigate mandatory quality controls. BBS officers provided one-on-one guidance breaking down national standards\, weight and measurement calibrations\, and compliance steps necessary to shift from casual operations and aim towards a commercial scale approach.\nPackaging and Labelling Initiatives: A central focus point of the sessions was educating business owners on proper product packaging and labelling requirements. Through these national MSME enhancement programs\, meeting BBS labelling standards is critical for local artisans and food producers aiming to get onto supermarket shelves nationwide. Entrepreneurs were encouraged to take advantage of BBS’ Product Label Evaluation services.\nPre-Export Readiness: As part of the “Buy Belizean” movement\, the BBS advises export-ready MSMEs on international standards compliance. Meeting regional standards (CARICOM) early ensures Belizean products can access regional trade corridors without costly repackaging or product redesigns.\n\nImpact Across the Numbers \n\n\n\nIndicator\nMilestone Achieved\n\n\nRoadshow Coverage\n5 Municipalities Covered (San Ignacio/Santa Elena\, Benque Viejo Town\, Corozal Town\, Dangriga Town\, & City of Belmopan)\n\n\nDuration\n5 Days of Interaction\n\n\nFocus Areas\nLabelling Compliance\, Metrology (Industrial & Legal)\, Standards Adoption\n\n\nTarget Sector\nArtisanal Goods\, Beauty & Wellness\, Agro-processing\n\n\n\nDriving the “Buy Belizean” Movement \nThe success of the Belize Bureau of Standards at the 2026 MSME Roadshow goes beyond regulatory enforcement\, we aim to be an economic catalyst. When small businesses adopt national quality benchmarks early\, consumer confidence increases. By lowering the barriers to technical standards\, the BBS strives to ensure that “Made in Belize” is not just a source of local pride\, but a stamp of quality that stands up to regional and global competition. \n \n
